Lost Art Press Heavyweight Hoodie

We spent a year trying to build an American-made full-zip hoodie that was as good (or better) than the American Giant hoodies we love so much. No matter how hard we tried, we couldn't get it done for less than $300 (and $300 is a lot of money).

So we decided to use American Giant zip hoodies and get them printed by our friend Mike, who does the printing at his farm in Oregon. The quality of his work is exceptional - it's a true discharge print, which means it's flat to the fabric, rather than the plastic-y junk that sits proud (and eventually flakes off).

This full-zip hoodie features the “Never Despair: Nothing Without Labour” artwork on the back. On the front is a friendly bee – a long-time symbol of woodworkers and other trades.

This built-to-last American Giant hoodie is made of heavyweight fleece. Side panels provide mobility, and the double-lined hood, custom hardware and reinforced elbow patches mean it will stand up to heavy wear. I've owned two of them for more than five years. I'm incredibly tough on clothes, and American Giant holds up incredibly well. (Read more about the company here.)

American Giant sweats are long in the body (they cover your backside when you crouch). I normally prefer tall sizes, but with American Giant this is unnecessary. They run true to size, but you should size up if you like a relaxed fit.
