Customer Testimonials

'Honest and transparent'

Lost Art Press is an honest and transparent company run by people trying to make a difference in the world. Their books provide valuable information and insights into the problems of woodworkers and offer real solutions for us all.
– John Burton

'Worth every penny'

I now own most of the tools from Crucible Tool. My first purchase was their holdfast. It seemed expensive at the time. After using it daily for many years, it is worth every penny.
– Joel McCarty

'Well-loved'

The books I’ve bought from LAP are well-loved yet, just like a good tool, are so well-constructed (and in this case well-written) that they will serve future generations just as well as they served me.
–  Taylor Gregoire-Wright

About Lost Art Press

Lost Art Press LLC was founded in 2007 by two enthusiastic woodworkers, John Hoffman and Christopher Schwarz, while attending a Lie-Nielsen Toolworks Open House in Warren, Maine.

The company started with a question: What happened to all the great woodworking books that used to be published? The books that changed the course of the craft and people’s lives? The books that explored our ever-diminishing link to the handwork of previous centuries?
